Find Ancestors

James Keating born 24 / 12 / 1870 in Balla, County Mayo to a Richard Keating and Sarah Reilly. I think Sarah Reilly died sometime afterwards and Richard remarried and came to England to live in Chester.
However I've found it hard to trace James. I think I found him in the 1901 census as a lodger in Blackburn (born 1868 in Castlebar, Ireland) although not sure.
He had two brothers named Richard (Balla, 1865) who was living with his father in Chester in 1881 and John (1867) who I can't find anything for. I think he also had a sister named Mary Keating born 1862 in Newtown Ireland.
If I'm right, their father married a Bridget Dunne and had another family that lived in Chester.
I'm starting to go a bit goggly eyed :-S and just wondered if anyone else could find any evidence of them in the censuses!

I was interested when I saw mention of Chester, because my mum was a Keating born Chester, but there is no connection.

Oh that's a shame that they're not connected! Yes that's them.. I think Balla and Castlebar are quite close together in Ireland? I've also heard Newtown mentioned.

Only thing is there is a tree on Ancestry that has Richard and Bridget, but it seems they had a child James together which seems unlikely if Richard already had a son James?

Eringobrah1916, thank you for that information.. Yes I have seen the information about Walter and have spoken to one of his relatives about it.. Very exciting when you find stories and not just dates!
My relatives believed that Thomas Joseph Phelan Keating died during fighting in WW1; however the person I spoke to about Walter believes that Thomas lived on until 1938.. Would be very interesting if he did but I haven't been able to find any military records for him as of yet that show he survived. I can't even find him in the 1911 census.. Would anyone mind having a look?
He was born in 1874 in County Mayo and was a boarder in 1901 in Price Street, Birkenhead.
Really appreciate everyone's help so far! :-)

Yes in 1911 Lillian was living with my great grandfather, Henry smith Holland.. Not sure where Thomas went though! Have you had any luck in finding him?
