1851 census -
Occupation of Tailor more likely to be Tenter on original I believe.
Tenter - A framework on which milled cloth is stretched for drying without shrinkage.

Thanks for that. Thats probably best way to know for sure...I'm just looking at his brother Edwards marriage to Ann Anderson when they were both only 16. Ann,s dad was also a shoemaker so seems it was a family trade. :-)
