Trying to find Benjamin Rackham born 1856 Tofts monk, Norfolk. I found him in the 1871 census living with his parents John and Mary Ann in ear Bulls Green with his siblings ..George 16, William 13,Sarah 11,Mary Ann 9,Ellen 8,charles 4, Elizabeth 5 months.. Any help to find him after 1871 would be appreciated ..

That's his birth Yvonne.. Not too sure about him being on a vessel in 1881 thou

Possibly the marriage in Depwade RD found by Yvonne is of this Benjamin Rackham, so not the one

If it helps I know he died in 1903, just can't find anything after 1871...

thought you found him in 1881 census that could be his marriage i posted and him in 1891 with wife and child

2 x births Norfolk 1860 +/- 5 years

The Loddon RD is the Benjamin concerned which covers Toft's Monk where he was born. (Depwade RD covers Fritton where the 1858 Ben was born)

The 1881 census - whilst age is out - shows Benjamin as born Tofts's Monk which is where the 1861/71 census says.

If he had become a Fisherman, there is no reason to see that he would not have been aboard his fishing vessel in harbour on census night (along with 3 other Fishermen)

And if he remained a Fisherman, possibly never around at census time.

think this is his son but sadly died same year

Will have look around and see if I can find out any more about the marraige Yvonne ..

I shall certainly take a closer look that he was a fisherman, I'm not going to rule anything out, as you say he could of been at sea when census was taken. Thank you

Benjamin b 1858 Fritton with wife Sarah b 1860 Metfield, Suffolk and and daughter Harriett b 1891 Fritton are on the 1911 census and still in the Depwade RD and there is a death for a Benjamin Rackham in the same RD aged 88 in 1945

That Benjamin defiantly isn't mine then. So I'm going to rule him out, and go with the theory that he was a fisherman

I don't have the death certificate , I know through searching back to his father many years ago when I started my tree and other family connections that he died of Huntingston disease. Something which has claimed the lives of many of my ancestors.
