Find Ancestors

This is an appeal on behalf of my elderly neighbour who has expressed a desire to visit her parents grave.

Unfortunately, she doesn't remember when her parents died but thinks it would've been at least 40 years ago probably more.

William Ollerenshaw was her dad and was born in the Lancashire area I think, he later married Ruth ? and there were 2 girls Muriel and Joan, Joan being the eldest of the two, there was also a stepsister Margaret.

The parents Wm and Ruth are buried at Carnforth, Lancs and I'm trying to find the grave for her, we don't think there is a headstone so that makes things abit harder, without a death date I have nothing to go on when approaching the council's cemetery's dept.

Please if anybody could help I'm certain Muriel wold be thrilled to bits, she's 86 now and Joan lives away in Aberdeen so any help for them would be much appreciated.

I don't think the census for William G. Ollerenshaw you posted is the correct one as it doesn't match with the date of birth given on the death record. The only birth that matches the death record is the one Patchem posted earlier - in Stockport, not Birmingham.

Thanks for taking the trouble to search, but not sure that these are correct, I don't recall Birmingham being mentioned, but I'll ask Muriel tomorrow before I rule any out. Are you saying that these are the parents to William George.

I've just checked some of the info and I think the Wm I'm looking for is born 1892 not 1889 as you've shown.

I hope you manage to find the grave for Muriel. I don't know what the staff are like at the cemetery in Carnforth, but here in the north-east the staff at our local cemeteries are really helpful and will look up burials for you without cost if you have an approximate date of death. They will also then mark the grave on a cemetery map for you so you can either find it yourself or they will take you to the grave themselves.

I have nothing but praise for our local cemetery workers - especially at Hartlepool's Stranton Grange Cemetery Office.

Hope you find the same in Lancashire for Muriel's sake.
