Help needed please. Hannah Stocks baptised 1826 St John, Preston (parents Samuel and Ann).Maybe marriage to Thomas Harrison 1846. Maybe birth of daughters -Ann 1848 and Elizabeth 1851. Maybe marriage of Elizabeth 1868 - Wigan.
I cannot find Census Records 1851 onwards or Death records. Need birth info for Thomas Harrison.

I wonder if "Jane" was the name given to the baby at first, and then changed to Elizabeth Ellen by the time of baptism???


I cannot find a Jane Harrison with mother Hannah and father Thomas ............... and the birth date is the same

It looks like they changed their minds re the name - it's the right parish Sylvia - same parish as Lydia married in Aug.1851 (from lanc-opc)

Did Thomas die, Hannah remarry, and the girls take the name of their step father?

Many thanks. This section of the family is very complicated. A large amount were married twice and came with children from a previous marriage.this happened with Ann Stocks and Stephen Ingham.
I have really tried to sort out the Jane /Elizabeth Ellen riddle but where they all went after 1851 I cannot work out. Thanks for the 1851 census.
I was thinking along the lines of Hannah dying or remarrying but need definite proof.
They have to be on a Census somewhere. Just keep going!!

You've hit one of those expensive brick walls, the one that requires certificates!

There is only one death in Preston after the 1851 census and before the 1861. Might be worth buying this certificate
