Find Ancestors

Please could someone help me find my maternal GRANDFATHER, he M. my Grandmother EDITH HEALEY on 22/10/1918 in a Watford reg office. Since then I can find nothing at all. He was b. 30/5/1897 in Ipswich (Western). My Mother never new him so she couldn`t tell me much. How do I start looking for someone who has obviously passed away by now but I have no D. date. If your mother never knew him, did her parents divorce, or did he die when she was a baby?

Thank you everyone for your time and patience. I shall now try to do it right. There was no divorse between Edith and Charles JACOBS. However, Edith M. Alex Gilmoure 23/04/1941, Bigamously.

I have copy of medal cert. He was a Private in the West Yorkshire Reg. A.S.C. No20569 and et/52739. I can find no further army records for him.

I have been in touch with Relative of sibling who was told he died in war. How could he have died if I have the M. cert for him and my Grandmother M. 1918???
Re possible informant of parents deaths. Looks a possibility, I will look into this.

Yes, they had one Daughter. My Mother Kitty. When she was B. they had seperated 19/06/1926.

I am in contact with several people re Kitty but will look into others. Same goes for Charles but noone seems to know any more than myself.

There is no middle name on M. cert but there is on B. cert.

Hello, CHARLES parents names were ROBERT JACOBS & EMILY ne MALLETT.

His Rank/Profession is stated as Private etc as previously mentioned.

Witnesses to the M were Charlotte Humphreys ne Healey. EDITHS sister and a Charles Shrimpton whom I do not know.

Hello Pamela, what was his occupation on your mother's birth certificate? Was he still in the army then?

On M. cert he is down as a labourer but the odd thing is that under the Fathers name section Edith has named him as Frederick. I am really confused by this. I have researched Fredericks in the family to no avail.. Apart from that name on B. cert everything proves that Charles is the Husband of Edith, they had seperated when my Mum was born (8yrs after the M). makes me wonder if Edith had an affair.
