Marriage To Emma Baigent in 1880 St Giles London Middx

Death Sept 1928 in Kensington age 74

I can't find his actual birth on ancestry and Ukbmd other than a Robert Markham Galloway born 1855

Fam search just gives the date of 1854 and mother as Catherine.

I can't find the Galloway family in 1861 census but it's
on all the following up to the 1911.

From 1881 until his death he and his family were resident in Kensington London

Yes, It's strange that the Robert M Galloway is the only one shown on ancestry but on Fam Search it gives robert as born 1854 with mother as Catherine.

Sorry Tom, I can't find anything either. I suppose they could be back in Ireland in 1861 but I would have thought his birth would be shown somewhere.

Thank you for the info, I have seen most of what you have kindly found for me,

The thing that is a real puzzle is the 1861 census as there is no mention of Roberts family on there ...!
It is my intention to get a birth cert but I don't have a birth date as such

Perhaps Robert was born with a different surname and his mother then married a Mr. Galloway.
His marriage certificate would give his father's name if known.

Catherine is listed as widowed in 1871.

Here's her own death - perhaps the cert would give her late husband's name (if any)?? Or her maiden name??

You're probably right, alviegal.

Robert's mother's a mystery - she apparently only puts in an appearance in 1871.

I have looked at George Galloway who married a Catherine Stocks, she was born 1813, but they never had a son Robert.

Yes, Robert did become part that thread, but as I was unable find mother or father
I thought I would get Robert's birth cert, but as you can see I cannot find Robert's actual birth, so I thought if the good people on here could offer some more advice
I might be able to go ahead with the application for the certificate.

I do appreciate the help and advice that is freely given here and
I have no wish to waste other peoples time, so my apologies.......!!
