Hi All - many thanks for your help.

Alviegal - interesting re: Dr Barnado's. Possible that she may have been put into care - but never heard anything regarding this - will look into this further.

Karin - Believe I have copies of birth and marriage certificates when carrying out previous searches, trying to track them down at the moment. But as far as I can remember I only know the name Emmaline. Could she use another name, i.e. Amy and death be registered as such with her real name down as middle name??

Once again thank you.

Lyn

??? Possible death
From Ancestry
Name: Amy E Riseborough
Birth Date: abt 1908
Date of Registration: Dec 1967

Do you have Emmaline's birth/marriage certificate? She may have been given name of Amy as middle name and switched them around? The E may stand for Emmaline - who knows. She certainly is a difficult lady to find death record for!

Her name has actually been scored off that passenger list. She was a domestic and last known address was Dr Barnardo's Homes, Stepney Causeway E1. The date is Nov 1924.

The whole page is girls from Dr Barnardo's.

Not finding her anywhere though.

Thanks Yvonne.

Do not have any information about her leaving the country and returning unless she went to work in Australia - food for thought. (Her parents were Alice Eleanor Beckett and Arthur Gooch.)

But would there be info regarding her return from Australia, passenger list, ship?

Will have to look this one up to see if I can recognise any other names. Was there an employment status on the passenger list by her name?

Cheers for the information.

Hi All

Still trying to find out information regarding my grandmother, i.e. if she re-married after her divorce to William in 1962, whereabouts after divorce and death information - she was born in 1908 so there must be a record somewhere????

Could anyone point me in the right direction to continue with my search - I am absolutely stumped..

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, just come across some paperwork by accident which I think could be possibly useful info regarding my grandmother and her whereabouts from the 1960s, poss 80s. She may have moved to London and I believe joined one of the following organisations, not sure be it as a Nun/Sister or resident? Sisters of Mercy, Little Sisters of the Poor, Little Sisters of the Assumption. Does anyone know of the above organisations and how I could find out if she was involved with them??

Any help gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance.

This is Williams second marriage his marital status should be on it if he was honest off course !

Name: William H Riseborough
Spouse Surname: Chapman
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1962
Registration district: Norwich
Inferred County: Norfolk
Volume Number: 4b
Page Number: 1203
Find Spouse Sylvia L Chapman

Edit there is another William H Riseborough born in Norfolk in 1929 so could be his marriage

Edit no 2 ! he is their son this is his birth

Name: William H Riseborough
Mother's Maiden Surname: Gooch
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1929
Registration district: Norwich
Inferred County: Norfolk
Volume Number: 4b
Page Number: 155

So it's more likely the 1962 marriage is their son not William senior

And another son

Name: Arthur G Riseborough
Mother's Maiden Surname: Gooch
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1931
Registration district: Norwich
Inferred County: Norfolk
Volume Number: 4b
Page Number: 143

Hi Reggie... Many thanks for your reply and suggestions: No my uncle was very vague, no info available (they did not have any children). True she could have taken on her partners surname.. Do not have marriage certificate for the marriage between grandfather and his new wife, so do not know his status at that time.

Cheers.

Does your uncle's family have any info?

She could, of course, have taken another man's surname without actually marrying
