I'm looking for Mary Ann Baron b. 1840 in Wigan. I have the 1841 details, but I'm not sure the parents are actually hers because it obviously does not give relationship to head of household. If she can be found on the 1851 age 10/11 it would give me this info. I've tried a search but she wasn't coming up at all. She was at Grayson's Yard in 1841 age 1. I have found her marriage on Lancsbmd and on the LancsOPC (church) in 1858, but it's giving her father as William Baron, this is not who she's with in 1841, so I'm thinking they were grandparents? I've tried for a marriage of William but again nothing is coming up. I have lots of other info but think she is my missing link. Any help much appreciated. Cheers M.

This is the one I thought possible, because a Richard Molyneux was witness at the marriage of my g.grandfather James Howarth in 1868.

She's definitely Mary Ann Baron and her marriage if it's the right girl, says William as father. Her mother's maiden name is Howarth. I am Howarth. The Baron's were witness at Howarth marriages, as was Richard Molyneux, all these families are inter related.

The point I was trying to convey is that the girl in 1841 was probably not the one who married in 1858
Also - if you get a copy of her birth cert you'll have FULL parental info

The occupation for this father doesn't match
1851 William Baron 46 - Painter Nancy Baron 44 Alice Baron 20 Henry Baron 16 Mary Ann Baron 11 Gaurey Baron 1 Mo .
I agree that the marriage quoted is a different Mary than the one born to mother Howarth

Yes I'm right with you on that Reggie, just didn't want to send for a birth cert that might not be the one I want, no probs. Thanks Mike, interesting in that a Henry Baron was witness at the 1858 marriage of Mary Ann to Richard, ummm. this gets deeper.

The one who married Molyneux was born EARLIER than 1840 - unless she lied about her age which would seem unlikely, as she was OLDER than her husband
Has she been found in censuses after the marriage?

Thank you so much mgnv for all the info, some of which I do have, some I don't, so it helps enormously. I have been checking the deaths on wiganworld, you have found more, will pop on later and have another look. Peter Baron and Ann are Mary Ann's parents, Ann nee Howarth, so I'm definitely on the right track. Will copy all this info and sift through it, Cheers. I will check out this marriage again Reggie, as her father was Peter and not William, that's definite, thank you for your input, I'm sorted now.

Margaret - you're probably already aware, but just to make sure, if you take the cemetery URL, then there's links to half a dozen cemeteries in the left margin - including Ince Cemetery, which was literally the other side of the track, being accessed from Warrington Rd rather than its offshoot Cemetery Rd asWigan Cemetery is.
NB I also edited my previous post to add the census ref for the Baron/Howarth h/h which I inadvertently omitted.

mgnv, thank you for all this, it just helps when I was going round in circles. I'm going over to wiganworld in a mo, so will check all the cemeteries. Peter Baron married Ann Howarth at St. Wilfrid's,so I have that, and Mary Ann on the 1861 with them. Think I have enough info for now to keep me going for a while.
And yes, Reggie you were right, wrong marriage. Cheers all, great input and Mike of course.

Check this look up again:
Marriage: 23 May 1820 St Wilfrids, Standish, Lancashire, England Peter Baron - of This Parish Ann Haworth - (X), of This Parish Witness: George Winroux?; William Darbyshire Married by Banns by: William Hodgson, Asst. Curate Register: Marriages 1813 - 1825, Page 108, Entry 323 Source: LDS Film 1526141
Note that 10 marrs took place within 23/4/1820-23/6/1820 (counting our Peter's). All 10 have William Darbyshire as a witness. I would say Wm is a "professional witness", probly some mate or rellie of the parish clerk.
