Hmmm. but he doesn't seem to have been baptised with that middle name - despite what Wiki may say. |

Derek Alan Trevithick Tangye (29 February 1912 – 26 October 1996) was a British author who lived in Cornwall for nearly fifty years. He wrote 19 books which became known as 'The Minack Chronicles', about life on a clifftop daffodil farm in the far west of Cornwall, and yes he wrote about cats, seagulls etc. He had been a newspaper columnist & during the war worked for MI5. His brother Nigel Tangye was also an author. They were grandsons of the engineer Richard Tangye. |

Thank you to everyone who has replied to this thread and those who suggested that I should research the family myself are quite correct - that would probably provide the information if it exists. But this is not a family history inquiry - I'm doing some research on the Tangye engineering firm in Birmingham and I thought it would add to the interest if I could mention a family connection with Richard Trevithick, as both he and the Tangyes came from Illogan. But at best it would make a single sentence in my report so I won't be doing the family research required to establish that. I had hoped, as a long shot, that someone might be already researching both families and could confirm the connection but as that isn't the case I will simply note the inclusion of Trevithick's name in use in the Tangye family. |
