The family moved to Hampshire and that is why the marriage of Agnes Newlands Carney aged 22 yrs to Victor Wright aged 25yrs on 3 June 1923 was in Southampton. Her father was described as deceased on the marriage cert. Her mother was also called Agnes (Elder)

I have an apology to make. The Agnes Carnie I was looking for was born in 1901 in Glasgow and her father was William Paterson Carnie. I got her correct age by sending for her marriage cert. Sorry for posting the wrong info.

Thanks for all that information ArgyllGran. I shall proceed once I have corresponded with descendants of Agnes in Melbourne Australia as they may know names of Agnes's siblings which would nail it down better - and then SP here I come.

The mention of Inch in the 1911 census, posted by GlasgowLass, is just where the family were living - it doesn't mean that's where Agnes was born.
