The marriage place for Sophia is Lambeth - the Sophia on the 1841 census is living in Lambeth.
Not seeing Joseph on the 1841 census (nice portrait of him on Ancestry).

It is possible that it is the same Sophie. When you look at the 1841 census on the same page as Sophia, the servants seem to work for people of means. Not seeing that Sophia on later census or any marriages or deaths before 1851 for a Sophia Gude.

The actual image of the marriage entry is on Ancestry.

Hi Roy,

Not sure you will see this today. I was unable to log back in.

Thanks for the input,I hadn't found these Elizabeth's before.

I did consider Elizabeth middle name as being part of a naming pattern. My own Scottish family have used mothers/Grandmothers maiden names as middle names right down to my Grandmother, which made tracing easier.

I've had a look at the Elizabeth's you found. I have no knowledge whatsoever of Welsh tradition etc including lack of knowledge of geography so will take me some time to find out how near to Welshpool these places are. I'll have a go today. Also I noticed that some of the fathers were Humphrey Humphreys! I believe they used a Patronymic way of naming at some point in Welsh history,so lot's of learning for me.

I really don't know how to go forward with the search for Elizabeth's roots

I do know that none of her children had the name of Humphreys in their names.

There is one name that sounds a bit Welsh though. One of her sons was Charles Owen Good and a grandaughter was Charlotte Elizabeth Owen Green!

Maybe her birth name was Elizabeth Humphreys Owen and her father was Charles?

Something to think about! but I would need to find a marriage for Elizabeth Humphreys Owen to a Richard Good! somewhere.

Her first child was born in the Peckham area of London so maybe London marriages and banns would be worth looking at, which I'll do today.

If I find it I will post it here. I only have Ancestry though so if it's not on there I won't get any further.

Thanks to all again for giving me food for thought. This forum is great for that!

All the best

Hi Rootgatherer,

I overlooked your post so thanks for the input.

My tree is the catherinestephens42

Looking at the 1841 census image I noticed that the person beneath this Sophia is ? Kieffer. The listing on the right hand side has a Sarah Kieffer linked to Sophia's entry. I found her on the 1851 as Head of house surname Kieffer age 27 with a child and an Elizabeth Good age 30 living with her. Whether or not this Sophia married Mr Kieffer I can't find, but I don't think Sophia Gude 1841 Census is mine?

Thanks again for taking a look
