It is 3/4 months since I was last researching on this site and again the website is all change !
I am researching the Burrow family in Leeds, for a friend of a friend and my current target is :-

but Kate states she is a widow by 1901 and I can't find a suitable death in FreeBMD. In 1891 he says he is 37, which matches my 1854 birth and the name isn't especially common...

Thanks Mike this is a real puzzle. William seems to be two people at once! I have him in the 1891 cencus with an age that looks like 37 and he is a coal miner, birth place Wortley ( there is one in Leeds). He has 3 children with Kate aged 27, who becomes a widow by 1901 and is then 44. It is not that unusual for ancestors to change their info but this one is really stretching it towards incredulity!

There is a post up near the top which says work backwards from the known .....

Yes Maureen, that's the Herbert I am following but are there two Kate Burrow as I can only find the one marriage - I am starting to wonder if my head is facing the right way....?

I presume you have looked for Kate as Catherine or Katherine
