Hello,
Trying to resolve a family mystery about Brendan Brooks known to my Family as Lorcan (Irish for Lawrence).
He used to visit my Grandfather (Edward Gilligan Mullingar Westmeath), who was a first cousin of the Brook's, presumabley by marriage.
is sisters were: Eithne and Carmel
Mother: Kathleen and father: Frederick john Brooks.
Theya are on the Irish 1901 and 1911 census.
I am looking to understand the Brooks Gilligan connection. I presume this will be via Brendan's Mum Kathleen? But not sure?
Someone on here has a family tree with the Brooks family members on, but they have not responded to my request, so I am stuck. Any help greatluy appreciated!
Hoping to solve the Brooks mystery for my 78 year old Mum who remembers Brendan Brooks visiting and bringing them presents when she was a child, but cannot remember the family connection!

Thanks Victoria. This is very kind, and very much appreciated.
However, we cannot see a Doyle of Devine connection with the Gilligans, although there are a lot of Devines from the Westmeath area.
We are wondering if the connection was via the one of the Gilligan children from ames Gilligan C1859 who Narried a Bridget Kelly C1874 Married 1889.
I did find a record for a Lorcan Francis Brooks on Family search, who married in Dublin in 1949..interested in him as his name was Lorcan...maybe I have the wrong Brooks? Although, the brooks we are intersted in had sisters Eithne and Carmel...which kinda makes it Brendan doesn't it?
Also, we know the Brooks we are after had a business in Dublin possibley in saddles and leather goods. Business went to ruin, due to 'family scandal'. Not sure how I can trace business details from uk? Any further help will be appreciated.

Laura my g grandmother was Catherine brooks nee doyle sister. There mother Catherine doyle nee devine was from lusk Dublin. One of there sisters married a Kelly and lived in lusk. you mention a galligan marrying a bridget Kelly. this was probably in a previous generation. Brendan would have had first cousin Kelly's in lusk Dublin.

I meant to add that there was at least one older doyle girl - sister to Catherine Brooks nee Doyle who did not appear on the 1901 or 1911 census with them. I do not know if she was away or already married/remarried then as she was older than the other children on the census.
She was Alicia or Mary Alicia
