re the financial advisor

136 is only if we continue spending as we are doing. He would really like us to take out a smaller draw every month!

Gins ...............

we didn't have a financial advisor until about 2 years before OH retired.

He had been paying into a pension plan at the uni since he started working there. It is considered one of the most well-managed company plans in the country, but a large percentage of his annual salary went into it every year. We were faced with making decisions:-

Leave it in there and let them continue to manage it ......... not recommended for various reasons

Take it out, and manage it ourselves

Get a financial advisor who specialised in handling these kinds of funds.

This one came well-recommended by friends and colleagues, and is also young enough to be in business for some considerable time.

Actually, Renes is right ............................... getting a financial advisor early in life is really the best thing to do.

J&M have been dealing with one for about the last 4 years ...... he has already saved them much money by combining all their "debts" (mortgage, car payments, credit card payments, etc) into one plan, thus cutting the monthly cost of such debts. They are planning on retiring when M is 55, which is in about 15 years, and then going roudn the world over a period of years.

One of OH's friends has been going to the same financial advisor as us for about 25 years ....................... he manages to take a sabbatical year every 4 years, and adds money from the fund to his half-pay from the uni.

So far he has had a year working and travelling in China, Israel, Turkey, and several countries in Europe .... and has just returned from 5 weeks in Australia. Plus travels to the different parts of Canada and the US to visit their children.

Thank you MC,

Sylvs - I don't DO early morning appointments either but 'when needs must', you have to go along with it don't you ??

I have all the details now from the Coroner's Office - won't post them on here as they are too depressing! - No other family members I am afraid - only me !!

I will only say that he was spared a lot of suffering so that's something to be thankful for.

You , look after yourself and take each step as it comes.

Take each day as it comes - it's all any of us can do.

What was supposed to be a quiet day turned out to be the opposite.

Hopefully, and I say, hopefully, I may get my cooker fixed tomorrow.

Why is it, that when OH wants me to make phone calls re his meds, I do as requested and then he queries the response........arrghhh.

Have been to town - twice! Once with OH and then again with daughter. Am ready for sit down!

Have never had a financial advisor as such but we did have a 'tax man' help us each year for a few years.

I do like our "money man" - he's got us some good returns on investment, but most importantly, he works with you so you can achieve the lifestyle you want (as far as possible).

Never makes me feel guilty for spending £xxxxxxxxxx
