Just a small update....I discovered a group doing research on Pomerania (sp?) which covers the area where I believe Charles Scheik (Senior) was born in 1843. There records shows that the name's spelling is also listed as Schayk as well as Scheik. I guess the spelling is simply under the control of the enumerator or official recording the info.

I guess 139 was abt 800m from the mouth of the river - i.e., its junction with the Ottawa R opposite Hull.
