This record also brings back memories of the resident group at a nearby holiday park, who used to sing this very well. They were called The Blackjacks and were all South Wales men. The keyboard player / singer was local.

It's great to have memories associated to songs. It really cheers you up to hear a song you enjoyed in the past.

And the Maori version by HAYLEY WESTENRA

I lived abroad when I was younger and this was always played when the big cruise ships left the harbour. Many happy memories of exploring the ships with my friends at weekends...no security checks back then, they just weren't needed or even thought about. A more innocent time sadly forever gone.

Good Evening Everyone :-) :-) <3

It's been hot here again today, but overcast at times and heavy. We've had one thunder storm (Wed) and I wouldn't be surprised if we have another!

That was a fun experience for you Liz :-)
I went on a school cruise to the Mediterranean when I was 13. When the ship turned round in the Port of Leghorn, Italy, Handel's Messiah was played triumphantly over the loudspeakers!!!
When we arrived back in Swansea during the night, over the tannoy to wake us up that last morning, was the Seekers song "The Carnival Is Over":-D :-D :-D

I enjoyed both of those versions Liz. :-)
I think because of the era it was recorded in, the Vera Lynn version had a poignancy to it, that made me have goosebumps!

My Grandson had his School Leavers Prom last night. He looked very smart and handsome! <3

Here's another one I haven't heard for ages.

Hope your grandson enjoyed his prom night. They do seem to enjoy the dressing up formality of it all. Changed days from my last school dance!!
Just hope they don't become too Americanised.

Do like your new avatar by the way.

Good Evening Everyone :-) :-) <3

Hiya Liz :-)

Thankyou for posting in honour of Val Doonican :-)

I always remember his shows, from when I was little. With his easy manner, his signature knitted jumpers and his rocking chair :-)

I used to do karaoke parties for my friends years ago.
I would have a competition- who could do the best "Delaney's Donkey".
Mind you, the karaoke track was much faster than Val's, and so much more difficult to sing, particularly if you had not heard it before! The winner's prize was a large beach stone with "blarney" written on it! :-D :-D :-D :-D

So also out of sequence in memory of Val, here's .....

DELANEY'S DONKEY :-D :-D

RIP VAL DOONICAN <3
