there are so many things you can do for yourself brummie46

for instance in your current thread

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/living_relatives/thread/1360439

a simple google for 'gerk sylvia' finds the obituary that Rose posted

in the case of finding a couple's children in the 20th century, there are no secret sources that people have access to that you don't - in fact you can search in the 1939 register, just not see images if you are not a subscriber

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/1939register

If you are actually looking to be in touch with family, have you followed up on the Ancestry family tree? I'm sure someone here would pass on your email address to the tree owner if you liked, if you do not have Ancestry access.

You can check that for yourself on the free site freebmd.co.uk.

From his first marriage to Lavinia, there were three Young / Marvin children born in Kings Norton - 1920, 1922, 1923.

From his second marriage to Cicely, there don't appear to be any children, assuming they continued to live in Birmingham.

AustinQ thank you for the information its much appreciated. I know from previous researches that the 1st born son usually carried their mothers maiden name as their second name. I know that Nora's mothers maiden name was Lawrence and seems that James has this as his middle name. I will search to see if he had any children with either of the women he was with. Although I wasn't 100% sure on my research but I myself found a birth of a number of children for Nora and one was a Ronald so will research further on that line. One again many thanks

Just looking at James- the tree on Ancestry has him listed as James Lawrence Young- married to Lavinia Marvin.

I don't see this couple on the 1939 register and wonder if James and Lavinia split.

There is this later marriage:

Name: James L Young
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1939
Registration district: Birmingham
Inferred County: Warwickshire
Spouse: Cicely M Morgan
Volume Number: 6d
Page Number: 1456
--------------------------------------

1939 register:

Young Household Birmingham C.B., Warwickshire, England
First name(s) Last name(s) Birth year
James L Young 1900
Cicely M M Young is also on this record
----------------------------------------------

Note they were living together before their marriage and both appear with surname young on the 1935 electoral register at 36 Ladywood Road

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 6 Jun 2016 11:44

A tree on Ancestry follows the young family and Nora- perhaps your tree?

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 6 Jun 2016 10:50

If it is the correct Nora they lived for many years at 16 Whitmore Street, Ladywood, Birmingham. (listed at this address 1945- 1965)

In the electoral registers there is also a Lilian J Ward living with them, and later (From 1950-1955) a Ronald F Pallett

AustinQ
