Hi Joonie,

Thank you for the above. That information is helpful. The Indian marriage took place in India itself so the Gurdwara records would be somewhere in India.

I have found alot of anomalies with my searches like you have pointed out with regards to her surname being entered as Harpreet Kaur.

I do beleive she kept Kaur when she married my Dad but if she remarried then her new husband may have asked her to take his family name.

It's a real complicated one and I think the answers will only be found in India. Unless the witness on the Marriage certificate is someone she knew in the UK and we can contact them.

have you seen the marriage certificate for your father to his new wife?


If so, does it say Divorced on it for his marital status?
