Thanks for that. It is worth a try. I have just sent an email to the man you suggested. I think I am looking for a needle in a haystack with an "Ann Smith" search - so I am grateful for all the help I can get.

at freebmd someone has added a postem to the record of son William

just search for all births with surname smith and mother's surname cordial, then click on the envelope to read the postem

the postem was added last year and reads

Is this Bill with whom I shared a flat 1963-66?
This was Ormond Road, Richmond on Thames.
Any news?

and gives an email address

direct link:

since he lived with that Bill for 3 years he might know the family as well and be able to confirm whether it is the right one for you

my guess though would be that the Anne whom Shirley mentioned is a better bet maybe

Where I remember she lived was Belsize Lane Hampstead and according to the electoral registers her parents could be George P Smith and May M Smith. Their children were George TE, Wm JP, Kathleen and a Margaret A. SO I AM NOW WONDERING IF THE MARGARET A WAS MY MISSING ANN

Yes - she was. We were classmates. If it was December then she may not have been registered until quarter 1 in 1939. Thanks for your interest

Was she born in 1938?

If Ann was her second name then what was her first name ?

the Births should be on FreeBMD

Can anybody help me find the above person please? She lived in the Belsize Park area of Hampstead and had an older sister (name escapes me). I can't trace a definite marriage for her and am wondering if she was known as Ann but that was her second christian name. If she married before being old enough to vote then that is why I can't trace her. Has anybody got any suggestions please? Thanks in anticipation. Regards Jennifer :-(
