It starts at 6pm(mostly elerderly-not us!!)and l don't get back from work til 5pm, so have to get most of it ready NOW!! Have ago Russell, honest they are great. Jude.H.(s.wales)

Russell, You should really give this a chance. I have found nothing but help, friendliness and a general good laugh from this board. If you dont join in nobody can talk to you! Allie.

Well said Jim. In fact you sound as if you have done a few courses in the past with that line. I am not disagreeing with you but it is not a phrase heard often these days. Many a course I attended when I was working and this was always one of the first things stated. It works too, nobody has the right to put anyone down. I only hope that Russell doesn't now feel he can join in. If he is intersted enough to subscribe to this site then he must have lots to say to us. It is daunting when you first read the boards, it is as if everyone knows everyone else, but they don't really. I really must switch off now and get a meal or I will be adding to the divorce statistics!!! Ann Glos

Hi all, I see Russel took umbrage at my abrupt reply to his message. If I offended him I am sorry. I just felt that I must defend us all against the charge of being "Clicky". The members Board is surely the great leveller. On the boards we are all equal, no discrimination is possible by age, gender, race, colour, physical disfigurement or any other ist. All have an equal voice and the right to an open discussion of their ideas . Another thing is that any member seen to be trying to put another down is only diminishing themselves in the eyes of the rest of us. Long may ALL we be free to chat. Jim

I agree Ann, it's so lovely to see people writing such funny things-Ray's a genius with his poetry, and everyone helping each other as much as they can. I'm new too-although I registered a couple of months ago I hadn't got round to the diferent boards-finally looked at the members board today. I won't get a lot done while I'm being nosey-but what the heck, I'm getting a good laugh, and I'm learning at the same time.

I have only been reading this board since last week and have found it very entertaining. It has actually reminded me of how it was when I was at work (3 years retired now aah!!! We used to joke along then but the work got done. It makes you feel young to have a laugh and I have to admit to sitting here chuckling like a kid at some of the messages. But there is a lot of help being given and I think it is a super site. Ann Glos

Oh Come on Russell, live a little. I only veiwed this on Saturday-yes everyone seems to know everyone else, but unless you join in you're going to have no fun at all on the sidelines. By the way, in no way at all have I found this message board "Cliqué". I was as pleased as punch when I got my first reply. Maybe this isn't your scene Russell?

I deleted my message as you lot all contradicted me!! Just me feeling down and lonely. Still thing we should campaign for a spell checker for the boards.

Russell, I usually read the members board, and occasionally put a word in/on. Once someone mentioned a place I remembered from my childhood, which had connections with my family and could help with my research. I asked about this place, not only was I given more information but an offer of help.(Thanks Ann,Darlington) So you see its not all idle chatter and definitely not cliquish. Come on get stuck in! June, Preston.Lan.

I know! We can have one Message Board called "The Living Room" where people can hang out and talk and one called "The Kitchen" where people don't want to mingle. ;-)

Take no notice of Jim, he`s just a bit of a sourpuss. I`ve had my run ins with him, but he really is a harmless pussycat really. Debbie

Russel - give the members board a go. They're a great bunch. I've NEVER been part of ANY clique, and don't intend to start now, but have enjoyed the past few days chatting with whoever on the board is kind enough to chat back. It brings a little light relief into looking for dead people. As someone else has said it's great to share our successes - particularly with people who have been there, struggled and know how exciting it is to find a relly. Good hunting, nevertheless, and I'm sure that if any member comes across a prospective relly for you each one will leap at the chance of offering them to you. Sue M2 (because there's already a Sue M)

Russel, do you mean we have formed a clique? heaven forbid! We are all here for the same thing - to trace out family trees, the members board is for chatting on - sharing our day with fellow geneologists - the people on the board go out of their way to assist if they can - support us when we have been disappointed, cheer us along when we feel downhearted and when we are successful and link up to a long lost or forgotten relative - they cheer right along with us. Just join in - we wont bite - honest She
