Does does your big toe lead the way, or is it the same length as your second toe? I remember reading that those with the big toe and it's immediate neighbour being of the same length are showing that they have Viking genes. Perhaps Leonard can help us out here and tell us if it goes back further than that to the Neanderthals or the Cro-Magnons. Out of three sisters, only one has the Viking tendency. So get your shoes off, and find if you have a Viking lurking there.....................................No don't throw your smelly socks off and leave them just there!!! LOL

Definately got viking in me. both exactly the same size. My husband always says I have weird little feet but I happen to think they're cute! I come from the west coast of Scotland and the vikings were around there a lot for sure. Pam

How about if your second toe is longer than your big as with my husband and daughter, and maybe son? Di. PS I've got cute little feet too, as I often point out to them. Aren't I nasty?

The toe next to my big toe on each foot is slightly longer than big toes... so what does that make me...Oh and can anyone else lift their big toes while foot is on the ground...my kids always say Iv'e got funny feet Lynn

My younger daughters toes point upwards!! She was the only child at school who wore out the uppers of her shoes before the soles! - what does that mean? Is she related to a Troll??(if she is, that would be her father, his point up slightly too!!) Mine are definitely non-viking. Maggie

Hi Norah, Haven't seen son's feet for awhile so I can't remember, but I think he has same affliction as hubby and daughter, so, maybe son too. I'm quite sure he doesn't have my cute little 8 1/2s. That's Canadian sizing by the way. Di. lol xxx

Most animals have 4 or 5 toes, but animals like Horses have evolved out the use of the others just leaving the Big toe, which has developed to its present size. But note Big hoof for Swampy lowlands, (Clydsdale) or Small hoof for mountain ponies. Humans have evolved feet in the same way, Big feet for lowlanders, and small feet for mountain folk. Like goats need small hooves for climbing rocks, so did humans need predominant big toe. So Vikings, and indeed Scots like myself, have predominantly larger Big toe, curving inward. Bill. size five, broad feet, little toes, very dainty, hubby calls them samples as they do not fit in with my ample body. lol.. Lindy:-)

I think that perhaps at this stage we must bring a little levity to the proceedings. How about if we all sit with our feet placed firmly on the floor, spreading your toes as wide apart as they will go (you webbed wonders can join in as well) then try raising your toes only up as high as they will go. To give your hands something to do, try the old one of patting your head with your left hand and rubbing your tummy with a circular motion with your right hand (this if for left handers) and the opposite way for right handers. Sorry, just fallen off my chair and LOL!! You ambidextrians can try standing on your head and counting your toes.......................

Gosh Norah, It's been 43 years since I bought a pair of shoes in England. But I think I took a 6. I'm 5'5 1/2" tall. I love shoes, love the new leathery smell of them before they've had hot sweaty feet in them, ( and it's not a fetish with me Viv) and the feel of soft, buttery leather. Used to love high heels too, but since I now usually wear pants, I'm used to wearing flatter shoes and think I'd fall over in high heels. Di.
