Depends on what you call famous. If by that you mean well known then my family are related to someone famous....me. Because I am the person who knows me very well. A legend in my own lunchtime!! Seriously my gran always claimed that the Jockey Jack Ormston was her cousin but I have not found the link.

My great great uncle's son's son, Don Bessant was an artist, and he went out with Julie Christie in the 60s. He went to the Oscars with her and everything! A friend from school, her uncle is Alan Rickman (mum's brother). Chloe

Grandad, Jimmy Sherwood, was Coach or Trainer to Leyton Orient footie club in the 1920s/30s. When he died there was a write-up in a match programme but I can't remember who had the programme.

You have to be a bit long in the tooth to appreciate this one - I am sure I will eventually find a link between my family and 'Lord' George Sanger who owned a circus in the late 18th -to early 19th c. In his day he was just about as famous as it was possible to be; met Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales and counted Charles Dickens and J. M. Barry amongst his friends. When he wasn't touring he performed at the Crystal Palace and Astleys (mentioned in the Old Curiosity Shop). The Sangers seem to come from the West of England, around a place called Tisbury, where I believe my lot came from although, as my Grandfather always used to say, the Sangers originally came from Europe. Apparently they were court jesters, which is really nice as my daughter is studying Drama at university so the genes carry on!

My Gx6 grandfather was famous locally (Romsey) as he was nearly 7ft tall and weighted 42 Stone. According to a local newspaper of the time 'He must have been the heaviest man in England'! My brother is famous in the world of bonsai pots - honest! Type Gordon Duffett in to Google and see what you get!
