I'm 5'11. Currently a shade under 14stone having just lost a stone. 2 maybe 2 and a half to go. My wife's the same height as me, unless she has heels on ! She's a largish girl and dieting too - hefty is a good word, I like it !

Lorraine Report 28 Apr 2004 11:56

I'm 5'10. Used to be one of those annoying skinny women who could eat what they liked and never put on weight, unfortunately my luck ran out in my mid-twenties and now I have to diet like normal mortals. I have some back problems, partially straightened out with Pilates except I haven't kept it up recently. I'm sure it's because I used to stoop a bit as a teen, worried about whether blokes were taller than me or not (although the blokes worried a good deal more). Eventually I ended up meeting a lovely guy who was 3 inches shorter than me, and ended up marrying him!

Di I am sure I have been robbed. I have no chubby legs or bay window. Weigh only 140lb against 168 when in the army and bone density is still ok (no osteoporosis). So own up some one. Len

So pleased to see that I am not the only one who has lost valuable inches. For many years I thought I was 5'6 1/2", and that is the height recorded on my service records. When I was measured at the doctors a couple of months ago I was only 5' 4". I was devasted and had them remeasure me twice. My lost inches have definately gone around the middle. I am nearly as wide as I am tall now lol. Feeling more cheerful now knowing I'm not the only one who has shrunk long before old age. Janet

Abigail Report 21 Apr 2004 09:58

I am 5'5" before breakfast if I stand up straight and take a deep breath! My husband is 6'7" but won't be measured anywhere anymore. We are both getting wider since we had the children and if any of those heroic people who say their weight is on the way down could give me their tips I would be very grateful. I want to do it slowly so it stays off forever and is not too painful and sets a good example to the children. Maybe when we have lost the 5 and a half (conservative estimate on husband's part!) stone each I might expand upwards??! It would be lovely to be taller and not stare at his ziffy sternum when we dance or cuddle! I love the idea of very padded feet in old age. I think I will pass that one on to my mother. Abigail

I''m 4' 6" but disabled and have curvature of the spine (scoliosis to give it it's proper name). I would probably be several inches taller if I had my back straightened but thought the operation was a bit drastic. My height doesn't bother me as I spend most of the time sitting down but I am about 3 stone heavier than I would like to be and find it hard to lose the weight these days. My fiance is 6'. Mel
