Foxyfeline

Foxyfeline Report 25 Apr 2004 07:17

Well, I have to say that mine isn't any of these common names. My commonest name is Bagley, closely followed by Davenport, Beards and Briars. However, my birth name was Burke, and that is an absolute night mare to look up, especially since my family are not Irish, but Jewish Burkes! The name originated as Berk in Lithuania. Consequently, I don't look my name up any more, only the particular first names with it, and then in America where I think the rest of the family went. If you just look Burke up, you get thousands of Irish people! Lisa xx

Diane

My tree is quite strange:- Both my maternal grandparents before marriage were HARRISON.. Both my paternal great grandparents before marriage were WOODCOCKS.. As you can imagine this has made searching quite tricky, especially has they all originated from the same places
