Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 28 Apr 2004 21:31

Oh dear!! A large chunk of my tooth has just broken off and I am phobic about the dentist!!! AAAARRRGGGHHH!! Will have to go in the morning as the exposed bit (shivering at the thought) is painful to touch with my tongue even, so can't imagine eating. Please think of me and keep your fingers crossed that I don't have a complete breakdown in the waiting room in front of everyone. Also that the dentist doesn't find anything else that 'needs' fixing. Thanks everyone! Maz - very very scared!! XX

Maz - aw petal - I was like that a few weeks ago - then I found the most amazing dentist - in a wee village - I come out of his surgery giggling - even after getting 2 roots out. I am there tomorrow as well - getting my last filling - then it will mean 6 months til I have to go back again - Just explain to your dentist your fears - I am sure he will be sympathetic about it big hugs She xx

Good Luck, Maz! I've got to go on Friday as my (new and very expensive)filling fell out a while back. Luckily I don't have a fear of dentists but I do sympathise.

Maz, I certainly will be thinking of you. Terrified of the dentist. Don't know why because I have never felt any pain whilst in the chair. Just think by this time tomorrow it will be over and you will be eating again. Luck, Jean x.

Hi Maz, what bad luck! If you mention to the dentist you are terrified i'm sure he will try to put you at ease. My middle daughter is terrified (for no obvious reason) and recently she had to have her first filling. The dentist gave her a whiff of entinox and she was great. Dont know if they do it for adults though.

Blimey - think I've touched a nerve!! (Geddit???) Rick mate, I already am two thirds of the way through a very large glass of Mother's Ruin (Gin if you don't know!) but thanks for the offer. Karen - dunno if I will see you or not - if I get early appointment I will send Andy up with the 'erberts. Lynda - will wait to hear from you about Sunday. Thanks to everyone - funny but the more I drink, the less I worry! Just wish I hadn't given up smoking cos it will seem quite different when I am on the pavement outside the surgery! Maz. XX

Good luck Maz - from one dental phobic to another. My dentist is my friend's husband - she FORCED me to see him when I was trying to ignore an infection. He has to treat me like I'm about 3. AND I get a sticker afterwards. If you don't get a sticker let me know and I'll send you one of mine ... I just started a new job as a researcher - guess where - ARGHHHH - in the Dental Hospital. Hugs A

I'm going next week for a check up :-( I have a vertical crack in a molar that gets really sensitive every now & again. Every check up he says we could do something about it but it's a really nasty job - let's leave it til next time & if it doesn't get any better...... Doesn't ever get any better, but I don't tell him it's getting a little bit worse ! Do you think I'm too old to get my mum to go along with me ? Rick.

Its nice to know I'm not the only big baby about! Once I went and just couldn't open my mouth for the injection - that's the worst bit for me - so I had to go back another time with my hubby!! Made him come in the room with me and everything. He has to take the kids too as I just can't! Ann - I will ask for a sticker and tell them YOU said so!! Maz. XX

Janet Report 28 Apr 2004 22:18

Maz, I'll think of you in the morning if you think of me in the afternoon. I went to the dentist last Thursday to have a tooth reparied that had broken in two. Instead of repairing that one they pulled out another that had lost it's crown about 3 years ago, found a lump that they didn't know what it was. They gave me antibiotics to see if that cured the lump (it hasn't) and I've got to go again tomorrow for them to repair the original broken tooth and for them to decide what they are going to do about the lump (if it's still there - which it is). And if they don't give you a sticker - have a tantrum! Think of me and laugh - every morning I have to walk through the clinic. There's 20 dentists chairs and thousands (ok I exaggerate) of dental nurses. I take a deep breath and bolt for the door at the other end to the corridor where my office is. Stuff of nightmares. Hugs for tomorrow.xx A xx

Maz, Some years ago I fainted having a check up, I'd got myself in such a state.! Patience and a calm approach from my present dentist has helped me but you will definitely be in my thoughts, when you go. I was told to make sure I ate before going, - to keep the blood sugar levels stable, I think. You'll be fine, I'm sure.

Hi Maz, Are you back home from the dentists yet? How did it go? Not too painful I hope.
