Marilyn Manson's version of Tainted Love is much better than Soft Cell

Joe is fabuloso on "With a little help from my friends". I can hear it in my head now!

Also prefer The Beatles 'With Little Help from my Friends' to the Wet Wet Wet version Have to say tho, despite not liking to see any Beatles song covered (as it usually has tragic consequences!) I do think Joe Cocker is a better than Ringo's (sorry Ringo!) Natalie

Natalie - I agree with you that Sinaed O'Connor's version is better than Prince's. Human League did a version of You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling on one of their albums (can't remember which one) that was on an equal footing to the original in my eyes. REM also did a live cover of Love is All Around on their Unplugged programme that I really liked. Dr and the Medics cover of Spirit in the Sky is better than the original but I can't think of the guy's name who did the original. Gareth Gates version was rubbish! Mel

Sinead o'Connor - 'nothing compares to you' compared to Princes or #~* (or whatever he is now known as!) version

I've got to agree Andy. I love David Grays version of Say Hello Wave Goodbye. But I did prefer All Saints version of Under the Bridge. I find the Chilli Peppers one really depressing! Jeanette

Sue at LV - nooooooooo ! Can't agree about the Byrds cover of Mr Tambourine Man- all mushy ! Prefer the original by miles ! Rick.

Prefer Gary Jules' version of Mad World to the Tears For Fears original. However I hadn't heard the original before I heard the cover version so I can't help thinking that this has influenced my decision. :-/ Also David Gray's version of Say Hello, Wave Goodbye is better than Marc Almond's IMHO. Cover versions that in my mind are wanton vandalism of the original: Wonderful Tonight - by some forgotten boy band called Damage (Eric Clapton did the original) Under The Bridge - All Saints. That really gets up my nose! (Red Hot Chili Peppers did the original)

I think Santana'a version of "She's not there" is much better than the original by The Zombies. And Don McLean's American Pie - the original is so much better than Madonna's version, well in my opinion anyway. Rachel

Much as I love Roy Orbison, the Flying Pickets version of Only You was just gorgeous and so much better than the original :o) Also The Byrds Mr Tambourine Man was better than Bob Dylan's original and I agree that Don McLean's American Pie cannot be beaten. Who is this person called Madonna anyway? LOL Sue
