Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) Report 16 Jun 2004 14:38

In order to assist other motorists in identifying potentially dangerous drivers, it is now compulsory for anyone with a lower than average IQ and driving ability to display a warning flag. The flag (comprising of a red cross on a white background) will be attached to the top of at least one door of their vehicle. For drivers of exceptionally low ability, additional flags are required. (This applies to those who think it's ok to park within 3 feet either side of the white lines marking out a parking space, to those who think hazard warning lights spell out 'I am parked here' in Morse code, and those who don't use indicators cos it wears out the bulbs).

Are these the same drivers whose horns don't work and thoughtfully provide a 100 decibel music track as warning that they're on the road?

Mike, I don't have a flag! :-)))) But do you know if on some cars 'indicators' are optional extra's? because the amount of motorist's round here that don't use them I wondered if some companies charge you extra for them!! :-(

Hi Mike Love it! Just emailing it to hubby to circulate round an office containing several company car owners!! If we are behind a newish car that doesn't use indicators, we always say they should take it back to the garage for a refund because the manufacturer didn't put any indicators on it. Mandy :)

Sorry but it didn't make me smile. Probably because last year I was in a head-on collision with an elderly driver who has alzheimer's disease - she was on the wrong side of the road. Joy

Greeting's Catherine. . . . . Off the top of my head the answer to your question . . . " what would it be for all the other flags??????? " In this day and age. . . .I would say a letter from your Council asking you to " take the flags down "

My highly amusing husband sent this e-mail to me immediately after he had adorned my car with 2 England flags .....

You forgot to mention that this assumption can also apply to cars that carry a badge that is divided up into 4 sections, two blue, and two white, and cars that carry a bumper flag, a white diagonal cross on a blue background. usually with "ecosse" written across it.

Going off on a tangent here Sorry! But those with "Baby on Board" in the back window (and I don't mean to offend the 99% that are ok) But sometimes I think the baby must be driving!!! Because they have a sticker they sometimes think they can drive anyway they like! Well round here anyway! Idea! Indicators on the baby!! yes sussed it!!!! Lol

Lynn Report 17 Jun 2004 00:00

Also going off on a bit of a tangent here, but while on holiday last week hubby purchased two flags and put them on the rear door of the shogun...wouldn't mind but he don't like football. they soon came off as they were damaging the paintwork. He is one for funny stickers though and as we tow a touring caravan he has had one made up to go on the rear saying " not another bl--dy caravan" just to give the folk behind something to talk about as he knows some drivers moan being behind one Lynn

Mike that was so funny, I am afraid I am one of those with a lower IQ. I am living in Canada flying my flag with pride (back wnidow) to support my football team, but I keep being ask "Is that a Swedish flag" so the lower IQ is over here too. Debbie.

Thank you, Marion, for your kindness in saying that. Unfortunately it's taken 8 months for the other driver's insurance company to accept liability - ridiculous! I doubt that the other driver remembers a thing about it, but thank goodness she has surrendered her driving licence, the police told me. I had no broken bones (had ex-rays), but severe bruising (the seatbelt and airbag worked well), whiplash needing ongoing treatment, shock and continuing fear of being in traffic. I remember the policeman telling my husband (who was not in the crash, but arrived quickly after I'd 'phoned him) - the sooner you get her back in a car and behind the wheel again the better. I *have* to drive to get to work, but would rather not have to. I used to love driving. I daresay if I'd not had the crash, then I would have smiled! Joy
