I was recently told that " to leave the seat/cover up",is unlucky, because it implies that your wealth goes down the drain. Bob

elizabeth,as you know, genealogy as a hobby,is time consuming, and can be very exhausting,i for one have to walk away, and relax. there are boards on gc,that are used specifically to help, advise, and to share experiences about the subject. we often use the general board,to relax, have fun, share a joke, even shed a few tears,as i did last night, after reading one of the posts...quite often the topics on here, are not related to genealogy, but perhaps you might like to join in,as a smile is much nicer, than a frown. bryan.

Can I throw a different question into the ring?? Just back from visiting a Brownie Pack Holiday House where they have PURPLE toilet seats!!!!! Me being not a morning person the idea of purple has me running for cover (but not to the bedroom as the curtain are bright cerise and orange!!) - but I'm told the kids think they're great!! What colour is your toilet seat? Has anyone got one of those see through ones with fish set into the plastic - or something even more unusual?? P.S. Margaret in Hertfordshire - I'm with you - don't care whether the seat is up or down as long as it's dry!!!!!!!

Hi Liz Glad to see you were brought up with my standards (on the loo seat front anyway)!!!!!! Gerry, What are you talking about, your in-laws must have taken any bad weather with them. Glorious day here today, looking out I can see nothing but blue sky with one or two wisps of white cloud. Janet

Good idea to keep the toilet seat down when flushing (so you can then leave it down) microscopic particles of what's down there get into the air otherwise - and how close is your toothbrush? Yuk Has anyone ever put cling film over the loo at a party and waited for someone to use it ?

Guides didn't only do the clingfilm thing, but put toothpaste on seat of elsan at camp - not easy to see toothpaste on seat by torchlight at night.............!! (For those that are not familiar with elsans, they are not the most stable potties in the world - the ground only has to slope a bit for them to be positively dangerous!!).

The toilet seat looks better down, as someone already said it looks better. I have shells on my toilet seat and it can't been seen if it is up. Nat
