You are going to think I am bonkers but ever since I could remember (around 4 years old) I swear I have heard my name being called only to find that no-one has called me! It doesn't occur very often perhaps once every 7 years and its been ages since the last one occurred. The reason I have brought this subject up is that I was speaking to someone about this a few months ago and he reckons he has experienced this too. I was just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this or whether there is a perfectly logical explanation for this!

Sorry don't know what happened there. Anyway I go out of the back door and of course no one is there. Why did the message get onto the board when I had not pressed the Add message box? Spooky.

Happens to me too from time to time. Think there might be something about it on Derek Acorahs website.

Yes I have heard someone calling my name. It has happened on quite a few occasions, but the one I remember most is the day my Mum died. In the morning, I was getting ready to take the kids to school when I heard her call me. She lived about 10 miles from me. I thought I must phone her when I get back, but I was waylaid and forgot. A friend of hers phoned me at 2.30pm to tell me that Mum had not turned up as arranged and the friend could get no reply on the phone. I knew then that Mum had died - I don't know how, it was just a feeling. I drove over there and found her dead on her bedroom floor. Her breakfast dishes were in the sink, and the newspaper was on the table as if she had been reading it. The post mortem showed that her probable time of death was around 8am, just when I heard her call me. That was in 1997, and I have never heard her call me since, but strangely, my best friend has heard her on many occasions. It's as if Mum called me when she needed me and I didn't come, so she doesn't bother now. Sue

i was awoken at 3-45am on the day my dad died in hospital, he had a heart attack, we got a call at 4.00 to tell us he had died about 15mins ago. some very strange things happen that week whenever i was around, like the kettle turning itself on etc. spooky however i have also never heard my dad call me, i think this is because i would love to hear him and that is why subconciously he can't get through. i have also in the past seen a spirit, so maybe one day when i dont expect it maybe my dad will appear. i know this is a bit off the subject but thought it might interest you all. penny

The sense of smell is apparently the most powerful of the 5 senses. If you smell a particular smell linked with a subconscious memory, it can bring back that memory in a way that no other coaxing could. I have also heard it said that smell is the first sense we discover, and the very last that we lose. I am not therefore surprised it is linked to spiritual/emotiaional experiences. I have heard my name called by relatives I have lost on a number of occasions - more than once around the time that they died. It used to unnerve me, but now I accept it and feel privileged that they feel that I mean enough to them that they should alert me to their passing. Angela

yes its happened to me, myself and my daughter thought we heard my son call me one afternoon from up in the bath, i shouted what , my daughter said, what did you call mum for , he shouted i didnt, we both heard it, later that evening he was up in the bathroom with a bad tummy as he sometimes gets from allergic reaction to some foods, he shouted as he does, mum. I said at the time to my daughter thats why i heard him earlier calling me. Sue, your mum will probably send you a message via your friend, i recently read john edwards book about spirits and he says that as your consious wants to hear from your loved one, its better they come through someone else as then it gives you the proof. you dont then think its only in your mind as you want it to be. hope that makes sense.

This has happened to me regulary and untill recently I to thought i was hearing things or at least going round the twist. I recently went to a medium only to be told that i dont need him as i can hear the spirits my self, and that it is past family calling to me. he recomended that i go and get trained to listen to them and that if i should hear them again or sense that they are near then i should simply say bless you and then ask them what they want.

TracyLee Your message is really interesting. To my amazement I was asked by a clairvoyant whether or not I was a practicising medium when I attended a clairvoyance session out of curiosity! My grandmother was alleged to have had 'sixth sense' but I don't know how true this is. Ever since Ive posted this message my computer keeps doing weird things - spooky! Sally

To save me laboriously retyping, have a look at the thread TELEPATHY. Apparently we do have psychic abilities and I quote from a recent article: "they're a kind of subtle energy field that as yet we can't measure but which can. in various ways, interact between living organisms" ( David Marks, Professor of Psychology at City University). Maybe someone was thinking of you when you heard your name called ! Len

I am sure I have many times. yet the clearest, time i heard my name, was when distraught with guilt over the lack of close communication with my mother, I heard her say" I forgive you Tess" The name I was always called as a child.
