Hi - l have just taken a very large deep breath and have also read the lovely poem from Joan:o(( Sadly we had a phone call from vets this morning and Lady has bone cancer in her shoulder. As you can imagine l had to make various phone calls to hubby, son and daughter.Daughter lives in London and said "l'm on my way", she will be picked up about 2.30 from railstation and son will be here a little later. The vets will be here this afternoon to put Our Lady to sleep. l have her home now and she's in the back garden, quite restless cause she hates the anisthetic. We had already made up our minds if anything like this happened we would have her cremated and scatter her ashes on her favourite shingle beach along the river Wye. l have cried so much this morning and will be for a while to come. My sister and her hubby have been here and said their goodbyes. This dog is so loved and will be so missed, l really can't believe whats about to happen. Will speak to you al later. jude s wales x

jude I am so sorry, try to be strong honey, i think you are doing the right thing, and how nice for lady to be with the ones she loves when she goes to heaven, i know its hard, it broke my heart when i had to make the decision for remy. Jude, I think Joan's poem says it all, you have made a brave deciscion for Lady, she will be free from pain, with those she loves around her. My thoughts are with you and your family. Sheila

Jude, I did put the poem on for you and Lady, but I did'nt want to make it that obvious so I'm glad you found it. I'm thinking of you and know exactly what you are going through. I still get upset for my Katy and she went 5 years ago. What I did is to have her cremated, then last year I bought a rose bush called 'Sweet Memories'. Then I got a big blue pot and planted the rose bush in with her ashes. I had a plaque made as well. I don't know if that idea will help you. God Bess, Jo.x.x.

Thank you all so much for your messages..........Lady was put to sleep at 4pm this afternoon. My daughter arrived here at 3.15pm my son could'nt make it and decided he could'nt handle it(wise move).She is at peace now. Its going to be so hard to wake up in the morning, come home from work etc etc and find she is not there waiting for us - talking to us,telling us off for being out!!!! Jude s wales

Jude, I'm so sorry. Years ago, our tabby (cat) had surgery twice for cancer before we had to "help her". It's hard, but our Monique and now Lady are free of pain. I'll be thinking of you, hugs, Lisa
