Nope, just a general comment, not about that specific thread, although frankly I wouldn't call it a debate, as I seemed to be the only person on the other side of the arguement... frankly it was more of a witchhunt. On that note (which will add fuel to the fire but...), I'm off home.. am happy to continue the debate via email if necessary :)

I'm definitely staying! Why cut off your nose to spite your face? We may not always agree with those that run the site, but as someone else said - rules is rules! I have had so much help from all the lovely people on this site, not to mention the friends I have made, and Lynda's jokes! Where else could you find a general chat room on a specialist site with such a diversity of subjects? I think Genes is worth every penny of the fee and I will certainly be renewing next year! Sue

Hi, I have no intention of leaving either! Paul dont think anyone bears any grudges against you, you made a legitamate point, however, i do not think that we all abide by the letter of the law here. The thought of having to e-mail someone and await there reply before you can tell them of a web-site seems ridiculous, and I doubt if many people will do this. However this is a brillianr site with brilliant people, and I for 1 will not be leaving. Sheila

I wouldn't leave before the end of my year's subscription. I wouldn't leave free genealogical sites to which I am subscribed either (ie rootsweb, rootschat, are we related, 1914-1918). Joy

Definitely not leaving - I've got past so many former dead ends since joining this site thanks to a lot of kind people and have had the pleasure of being able to help others as well. I think the subscription is extremely reasonable and the service very good - I really don't think a couple of weeks to sort out various complaints is bad at all. The only thing that puts me off is when various threads (and I'm not only talking about people's grievances with the logo) get too negative:) David

have I missed summit?!?!?!?! What on earth is the 'OTHER SIDE' and what is it that has been going on?!?!? If it's the threads that people seem to be offended by and can't agree to disagree ..... then that's life, happens in the real world and you still have a choice to be civil and say I am sorry but I disagree and change the subject or WALK AWAY!!. Either don't bite at the comments and adopt a thick skin , water off a ducks back attitude or just shut your compter off . Easy as 123 if you ask me . OR better still have a drink of wine or 3 and start to to see the funny side . The people on this site are invaluable, educated, knowledgeable, most friendly and helpful I have seen on any other forum/chat room. It seems to me dispite their differences and upsets they are ALWAYS WILLING to go that extra mile for others, even when the information originally given is lost and requested again. No idea why this thread was started but I for one love it and am grateful for all the help I have been given . THANKYOU GC PALS : ) Much much happiness Debi P.S 4Got to mention that I'm staying lol and that I don't think it'll make any difference to Genes if people did leave as there are always new members joining on a daily basis : ))

Where exactly is the 'Other Side'?...And what on earth has 'gone on'? Why are people so dramatic? I thought this was a site for Genealogy and friendships...

sorry folks but i'm not going either ! I belong to both this site AND Colins site and am very happy with both. I think GR is now well aware of peoples feelings on this, so now the argument should be left for Colin & GR to air their own differences between themselves in private. Elaine x

"the other side" used to be a euphemism for death. I'm not ready for that just yet!

Joy

Joy Report 11 Aug 2004 19:05

It would not make any difference to the site owners, financially at least because of the thousands subscribing each month (over 90,000 in July according to the newsletter). Joy

Hawthorn Report 11 Aug 2004 19:05

Pardon my ignorance, but what has gone on, and what's the other side, and who's Ernest?

Joy

Joy Report 11 Aug 2004 19:07

Have a look at WHERE HAS ERNESTS THREAD GONE Where has ernests open message to Genes gone? Joy

Lisa

Lisa Report 11 Aug 2004 19:09

we are just stating that ernest put athread on the site complaining to g.c that colin had been unfairly treated because g.c thought that he was plugging another chat site and he was struck off and all his threads were aswell.didn't have any say or was able to fight his corner so ernest complain that colin was upset about being treated like this and ernests thread disappeared because he complained and g.c didn't like it.
