My middle name is Allana. I hated it as a child but now I rather like it. My, Irish, paternal grandfather chose my names. Kathy

Mine's Louise. I was named after my grandparents...Alice and Louis! Everyone says my kids have got 'posh' names (Scott, Morgan and Logan) but the main nightmare with them is I didn't realise till it was too late that all their names can be surnames which causes no end of hassles. The poshest name we have is my partner's daughter, Sian Louisa Florence Olive. Don't think any of the grannies got left out with that one!

Mine are Claire Sidonie - Doc who looked after my mum when I was born (I was possibly going to be a Blue Baby and he took great care and Mum said he could name me!) wanted him to call me Graeme as he always wanted a girl he'd helped be born called that but Mum said no and compromised by taking the South African female version of his name Sydney.

Having been given a Welsh name but growing up in Hampshire was not the best start for a shy child so my husband and I chose fairly ordinary names for our 3 children and just one each, as we both had.

mine is as my name ann , my brother to thank for the full name as he told everyone that was wot i was going to be before i was born, mum and dad had to stick to it, if id been a boy they wouldnt have called me julian. my kids names are my favorite, elouise and byron. hubby was landed with his dads name , hes the fifth child and all the others began with an s, he wondered why his mum called just him 3rd boy, same as his dad, and begin with a c but known by his middle name to save confusion ! i cant explain her logic sorry, im confused, he then discovered the sixth child none of them knew about until last year went back to name begining with s.

Poor me - don't have a middle name (I guess Wigglesworth as a last name was enough for anyone!) My sisters and my mum don't have middle names either. My dad is the only one - but since his is Ralph I guess I should be grateful I don't have one! My two sons have Adam and Thomas as their middle names. Having Brown as a last name I thought they could handle a middle name! Joanne

Maxwell, after great grandad. Let's not knock the middle names, though. They're very handy in the 'tree' game.
