To be told you have selective hearing when you really don't hear is annoying. I have age related hearing loss in both ears although my right is worse than my left. i have a NHS hearing aid and am on the (very long) waiting list for a digital aid. I have had the aid for about 6 years now. i am selective as to where I wear it as in some situations it can make things worse. (where there is a lot of background noise for example). I also have very annoying tinnitus which makes the hearing loss worse. I am always pleased when I go to a lecture or meeting and they have a loop system in place. Ann Glos

tried everyhting pinky, had loads of tests since i was younger! went about 3 months ago was my last, 2 years ago they said 'come back in two years, if its still the same we will have to sort out some hearing aids etc' so two years later went back, still the same and the doc said that maybe if i stop daydreaming or when im not so stressed i will heqr, the bloke doesnt even know me, so that all came from no where. ive tried it all, even told him about every time ive nearly been knocked over by motorbikes, how i have to look at peoples faces when they speak, and how it affected my speech when i was young and had to go to spech therapy, wouldnt do a thing!!!! mum went ballistic, phoned the ENT compaining saying she wants a second opinion, they refused, and the doctor said he will not see me again and sticks to what he said!!!!! so now i just gotta get on with it. he said that if it deteriorates i should go back, nice isnt it.....he may be the cause of my hearing getting worse !!! sorry i ramble!!! xxxx
