Jo There's no need to "put down roots". Just be comfortable where you are, find a few friends and get some interests in life other than domestic affairs. The secret then is to keep breathing. len

We're a good few years from retirement yet but I have no urge to move. Yes there are more exciting places but I will not be after excitement, just comfortable contentment. I have the countryside to view within a 2 minute walk and the sea less than a mile away. No thank you. I'll stay here.
