Tracey, What a good thread you started! I'm a chief negotiator and peacemaker for the UN. Ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration! I'm a nanny to two young kids, but after years of raising kids I feel I have all the neccessary skills! Am studying with the OU towards a degree in International Studies. Sal

I am a milk recorder I visit 8 farms in a month and take milk samples from cows, in the afternoon and again in the morning, then I put all the cows data on computer and send the samples off to the lab. I love it. Ancestors were agri-labourers. 1 a shepherd. Training collie dog to get the cows in...farmers need a lie in so they say. Was a delivery driver, Postie, goodness knows what. Even took HGV, but now medically retired doing the farms.

Mainly IT. I say mainly because I went through a spell where work seemed to be thin on the ground and I took a step back and did some time in a call centre. That's ended now and I'm currently on a 3 month contract, cleaning up database information..not majorly exciting but I knew that when I took it on. During this period of time, I'm contemplating the viability of a complete career change, becuase I'm not sure whether I have the same hunger for IT anymore.

I did a degree in languages but then somehow ended up being a purchase ledger clerk by mistake! I really wasnt to change jobs but don't know what I want to do. I know that I am not a very good purchase ledger clerk! No time at the moment to go for interviews etc as I have used up all my leave on my recent honeymoon, so until Jan no interviews till then, but at least it gives me time to think about what sort of jobs I want to apply for, now just to hop no one from work is reading this :) Ann

I retired 3 years ago aged 65. Joined the WRVS a month or two later, and became part of the local Meals-on-Wheels team. The wife and I deliver 4 times a week. She's my escort. The old folk we go to are quite a mixed bunch as you might expect. Most are fairly cheerful in spite of being in pain, lonely, housebound, etc. Many are in their 80's and 90's. A handful are over 100. One recently passed away aged 104. Problem is we get a bit too attached to some of them; difficult not to (get to know those whose families love them and care for them, and those who couldn't care less, [you'd be surprised]), and it's upsetting when they pass away. We both really like what we do. It has its rewarding moments (I don't mean financial ones!) Brian ;-}

I work as a Practice Manager for a GP in a Health Centre. The GP I work for is lovely and very caring, more interested in his patients than money (more than I can say for a lot of them). It can be very stressful at times, but never boring!! Carol.
