Irish accent. The chap in cold feet(can't remember his name) has a lovely accent. Geordie comes a close second. Maxine

Somerset & Cornwall definetly, But I long to hear London accents as I have stopped watching Eastenders the past month or so, seems I better go back to watching it. Find it surprising so many like the Irish Accent, it really depends which part of Ireland, I dislike the Northern Ireland accent very harsh, like some Scottish ones. Some people from Kerry or Cork I cannot understand at all. But there are some nice lilting ones as well. Pat x

Well Ladies, bloke perspective here! A cultured Scottish accent, Edinburgh? - Celia Imrie for example - VERY sexy!

Steph Report 19 Oct 2004 20:38

In general, or the opposite sex? Irish or cockney accent for a man sends my knees a-trembling!!! As for generally, a soft scottish accent is always a pleasure to listen to , like Siobhan Redmond.

Strange things accents. My family lived in northern Middlesex as far as I can find back, 1669 on one side, 1732 on another, 1752 for my own paternal bloodline. When I was at school people always asked me if I was Australian. That confused me, I thought my accent was normal. What I subsequently realised was that I had one of the few remaining examples of a Middlesex dialect, something that only died out when the hay Farms around Harrow, Pinner, Harrow Weald stopped farming in the 1920s. My father and grandfather passed this dialect on to me. It's nice to know who you are isn't it?

Andy You have a point the home counties (as I call them) accents have almost disappeared in favour of semi London accents, I wonder what the accents sounded like when you look at census from 1871/1881 Middlesex, Surrey, Essex, and Kent. When you see that even part of islington was still in Middlesex Londoners are spreading like a rash soon the whole south east will be London, everyone then talks the same (well almost). But I do still love North London accents I feel more at home with it. Pat x
