A cousin has told me that a great uncle on her mother's side of the family was called Fairey. That's not THAT bad I hear you think, (yes I can hear you) but his surname was Gay. :-( |

I read in a magazine a while ago that a reader's friend went to a school reunion. She started talking to one of her old classmates about jobs they'd had over the years, and the classmate said she used to be a receptionist for a firm that made doorknobs. This was owned by a Mr R Bulgeing. She said it was all she could do to keep a straight face when answering the phone and saying "Bulgeing Knobs, can I help you?" As I say, I read it in a magazine! The firm I used to work for had a client called "Mycox Electric". When the receptionist answered the phone with the name of the firm one day, one of our articled clerks couldn't resist answering back "Oh really, so is mine". |
