New situation on the Mother-in-Law saga Every year my husband and I always have Christmas day on our own - we are a couple of romantics, and because my Husband's brother and wife now live in Ireland dear Mother in Law has decided that she is spending Christmas day and boxing day with us. I have flatly refused on Christmas day but Boxing day she is welcome - sort of. Anyway because of this she had now said that she has booked herself in for Christmas lunch at the salvation army and has told them that she has no family. My husband could not stop laughing and said that that is her blackmailing technic after all she has no contact with her grown up Grandchildren (Brother in laws children) all due to her acid tongue. Would you feel guilty, would you give up a romantic tradition just to please a bitter and what I consider to be a nasty woman? Lin

Lin, could have sworn you were describing my mother. Know how you feel girl, but don't let it stress you out, because that's what they want and that's what they love. Act as if nothing has happened, live your lives and just ignore every time. I know it's hard, but they thrive on our misery, misery that they cause. If you ever want a good moan, email me, I have medals in moaning about my mother. M.

Oh Ann you've just told me off - get your meaning though. The hard thing is she leaves message on the phone and failing that send flowers signed "Love you both" She is the mother in law equivalent to the bunny boiler. Thanks Ann Lin

Hi Lin, You could always tell her that you have made a will leaving the house and all it's contents to her LEAST favourite cause - or that the property should be sold and the money given to a political party! - you don't have to have done it but anything to get her goat. lol It's your house - you can do what you like with it! What a woman! Magsxx

There's a thought one last fling at life - round the world trip at 80 and hit the casinos - the irony of it is that she and the niece and nephew do not know that I have a half brother (ten years younger than me) only me, my husband and my late fathers solicitor know about - my last laugh at the end maybe Thanks chaps - basically it arse***s to the lots of them. ttfn Lin

make sure you do make a will, leaving your money to whom you want it to go to, Review & Update it when the need arises. That way when the inevitable arrives, no one can contest it. (especially if you have a personal note left with the will or added to it, stating who you dont want things left too.) E x ps Remember....one day you will sing "Ding dong the witch is dead...."

Hi Lin, I have problems with my family too, well on my dads side i do, Kath who is my Nan, if thats what you can call the dragon is also a huge two-faced backstabber! same as my aunt and my uncle. To be honest the only decent people from the Dale family (apart from me of course) would be my late Grandad and my dad (well sort of anyway!!!) they are liars and decietful, and they couldnt give a s**t about anyone but themselves!!! If i were you, i would get the will sorted, these things are owned by you and hubby, its for nobody else to say what goes to who!!! xxxxx

Cut her out of your life, now!! Life is too short. I had to do the same with my evil mother in law. She's been a cow for ever, but when my 2 year old son was close to death in hospital she said my mother tried to run her over outside (my mother hadn't even been in her car). That was so evil I'll never forgive her or allow her in my house again. Thankfully my boy has recovered and is now looking forward to his fourth birthday. Jacquie
