Slowly but surely our english identity is being swept away. Our emergency services do such a fab job and take pride in their work . I'd like to know who it was that first complained or thought that their treatment would be affected by an ambulance STATION flying the english flag?!?!? or which part of the MANAGEMENT felt this was an issue?!?!? I wouldn't mind betting its the Management of the hospital.........which has nothing better to do then think up silly issues, rather than roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty with some real work like cleaning the wards. Im English living in Northern Ireland and I laways introduce myself as ENGLISH and not BRITISH.........even though my mother is of Scottish roots. we don't fly flags as St George looks too much like the Ulster flag and because of the politic implications it causes, however when england play rugby or footie we do with pride.

If you can't fly the union Jack in The United Kingdom where can you fly it. If some one emigates to England and becomes a citizen they too should be proud to fly the Union Jack, and any thing else that their adopted Country does as tradition. I emigrated to Australia from England, became an proud Australian I am proud to fly both the Union Jack and the Australian Flag., and live by the Australian way.

The following issue of stamps was a bunch of snowmen and snowflakes .........pc gone totally mad !!! Joyce be interesting to see what they drum up this year

We always react unfavourably towards people who "Get In Our Face". Why won't the PC Brigade recognise this and leave us alone.

Evelyn

Evelyn Report 30 Oct 2004 17:20

My view is that PC has done more to foster rascist feelings in normally reasonable people than any thing else I can think of. For the first time ever I am displaying the Union Jack and the flags of England and Scotland in my porch. Evelyn AND I'M PROUD TO DO SO.

how dare they take it on them selves to say how people would feel, i wouldnt mind getting in an ambulance with a flag on it , i have and english sticker flag in my car back window. and am very proud of it though its for husband and son. next theyll be stopping people wearing poppies, or trying as they wouldnt stop me. im thinking of putting a yellow ribbon arround my poppies for the soldiers in iraq still serving.

Bryan, Is there a website where we could add our 'signatures'. I am in no way racist, therefore believe countries (and the services paid for by the inhabitants of those countries) should be able to fly their flag!!! Anyone who comes to live here surely does so because of our accepting attitude - we may be accepting , but we're still English/Scottish/Welsh and a bit Irish - so let's fly the flag (s)!! Makes you wonder how racist the 'powers that be' are doesn't it? The lady (government - any government) doth protest too much ! maggie

Glenys the Menace! Report 29 Oct 2004 23:38

Oh, for goodness' sake!!!!!!!!!!! When WILL political correctness ever end? It's getting beyond a joke. Recently I saw a job advertisement, quite by chance, for a "Housekeeperperson". Eh???????????? Glenys. P.S. And I make no apologies for remembering my darling Golly from my childhood. As a child, I never made any connection between my gollywog and coloured people; I still don't!

Lucy

Lucy Report 29 Oct 2004 21:50

It should be "when in Britain,do as the British do" so keep flying the flag .Everyone is welcome but they should adapt to our ways ,as we have to do abroad.....Lucy

I think all foreign flags should be forbidden to be flown in England, apart from by Embassies. Flying the Union Jack should of course be flown. Sylvia xxx

Wasn't there some furore about a charity issuing their official Christmas card, which depicted the nativity scene and the political correct brigade said that this would make people of other faiths/religions feel excluded from Christmas? Utter tosh.
