Jim A lot of the contributors are under 45, I guess. So they're young and sometimes foolish, as we once were! It's only a bit of fun! Like TV, we can switch off. Relax! It's all pretty harmless...........

Jude - so sorry to hear you've been poorly, hope you're feeling better, I wondered where you'd gone! I agree with you all, too, and think the General Board has got a bit manic. There's still lots of lovely people here, though, willing to help. Take care Jude, Sheila x

I really wasn't planning to leave the Site, just this Board. I have not been on the Chat Board for weeks. So I am back, but am going to be careful which threads I keep on with, and which ones I am going to avoid. Glad to see that common sense has prevailed. Thanks for all your messages of support & goodwill xx Jim

I am very new to GR and admittedly have been surprised about the content of some of the threads. I realised very early on not to bother with these. Please don't leave i have had some very nice welcome messages that prove there are lots of nice people around, what happens if you all start to leave? I joined this site because I am enjoying my new hobby and want to make new friends. xxxxxx

Hello Jim, Know how you feel, mate. I've been tempted to pack up too on one or two occasions in the past, but was persuaded to stay. Still feel rather bruised by it, and I'm now much more careful which threads to contribute to. Have to agree with the others, reading threads is a matter of personal choice. I can see from the titles that some of them are just not my scene, and avoid them like the plague! Anyway, I'll add my pleas to the others, it's far better, as LBJ once famously said, to be on the inside of the tent pi**ing out, than on the outside pi**ing in! Just think what you could be missing if you ended up pi**ing the wrong way! Good luck, Philip

Jim There will always be the prima donnas and would-be martyrs who send up howls of anguish if challenged or criticised. I have had my share of them. Surely you and I are old enough to ignore them and proceed serenely on our ways? Whatever you do, don't join them. Len

Please don't go. I know how you feel though. When I first started on GR a year ago, it was really pleasant and everybody was friendly. About three of four months ago it did start to get silly. Don't let a few silly people ruin it for the rest of us. Please don't go. Jo. X.

Glenys the Menace!

Glenys the Menace! Report 3 Nov 2004 16:19

Out of sheer curiosity I've had a peep at certain threads, and don't see the point of some of the replies. From observation, it seems to me that they're put there to antagonise which is a great shame. As I've said on another thread, I've always found the people on here to be so friendly and helpful. Don't go, Jim. Glenys.

But then again Lisa, comes the point of free choice. You dont have to read the thread, to continue to get upset about it. Elaine x
