my brother found my grans birth certificate from records office but adoption was illegal in 1900s early , so there were no records i dont think, her real mother was named on her birth certificate |

Hi, There were no official adoptions until around 1928. All others were informal arrangements. Adoption information is confidential, except to the adopted person. Gwynne |

Thanks. Just wondered if i could've traced a brother my gran never knew but knows that he was illigimate, adopted and known to have lived in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. Birth mother was Annie McCormick of Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland, father unknown. |
