Who takes a hot water bottle to bed with them? Is it a stone one or a rubber one. Any funny stories about these bottles? Sylvia xxx

I prefer the human variety too now. Used to have rubber ones as a kid. I have got a stone one, it was my parents'. I can remember having it as a child. Warm feet. cold everywhere else. Ann Glos

I wouldn't be without my hottie wattie bottie, it was a christmas present 2 years from my husband, men are so thoughtful arn't they?, but as we have no heating upstairs and no double glazing I wouldn't be without it or my 15 tog duvet, we get ice inside the windows in the winter when its realy cold. jenny x

Di, your story reminds me of my youth hostelling days. I used to cycle from hostel to hostel. Now hostels in the winter are freezing places. I too, had my hot water bottle freeze, and I only noticed it when I woke up! Sylvia xxx

a good tip for the summer when its too hot to sleep is to fill your hot water bottle with cold water and cuddle it till you go to sleep. jenny x

Don't use it now, but I still have the old stone one we used when I was young. Woke up many a night with a fright, when it fell out of bed and banged onto the floor. Christine

My mother used to have a stone one too. Rather cumbersome in bed. Sylvia xxx

My Dad won't go to bed without his hot water bottle, we tried to buy him an electric blanket but he won't have one!.. I remember my Grandparents old stone brick, came out of the range oven, and straight in the bed!..

I've got 4 furry ones - my cats LOL! One of them is usually kind enough to sleep where my feet go and warm it up for me - and of course they are always willing to snuggle up alongside too :))
