Joy - You tend to attract gremlins then do you? :)) I have just solved my problem, mainly because I remembered a similar problem before. This lady was in my contacts list after all but by a different name. I think what happens is that some parts list you by your maiden name and some by your "known" name. I think that when I e-mailed and said I didn't know how to give her access, she kept pressing request access to help me - it just didn't work. Chrissie

Thank you all for your replies. I have just been off looking again to check my facts and this lady did indeed contact me properly some time ago and after looking at the Christian names that she had I said that although these people were born in the same area I couldn't connect the families at the moment. It is only the last week that she has twice requested to view my tree. I decided to let her but as she doesn't show up on my contacts list for some reason, I don't know how to do it. I tried sending her another e-mail as a box usually pops up giving you the option but this time it didn't. If you aren't all totally confused by now you're obviously brighter than me LOL:)) Chrissie x

I've had this happen a couple of times. Just out of the blue "can I view your tree". No contact or e-mail prior to that and no explanation why the person thinks there's connection. I don't open my tree until I get more information - not that there's much on there anyway but it's weird to just ask to see your tree without a reason, I think, anyway.

Lorraine, Yes, I agree that this message is automatically generated when the "request" button is pressed on the contacts page. However, the point is that Chrissie has mailed this person and they've declined to reply, just "pressed a button" to request to view again. Which is a tad rude. Paul

Chrissie, I refuse to open my tree to anyone who has not the courtesy to reply to my enquiry why they want to see it. And yes I also have "Smiffs" on the Isle of Wight. Jim

Bev

Bev Report 25 Nov 2004 20:39

yes chrissie i see your point my Rabbitts were relatively easy, althought there are quite a few of them, all related ....Rabbitt by name............. nomination is in by the way

Christine2

Christine2 Report 25 Nov 2004 20:37

Thanks Bev. The thing is though that the more obscure the name is the more likely that you are to be related. And you want to try waiting for ALL the Smiths to come up. It takes about 10 minutes just for Harry LOL:)) Paul - you have just spoilt the image for me LOL:)) Chrissie

Bev

Bev Report 25 Nov 2004 20:33

If you're talking about the Inbox/Sent tickboxes, then I think you'll find that the "tankard" is supposed to be a wastebasket... but I like the way your mind works !!
