Today is the 25th anniversary when the Air New Zealand plane crashed on Mt Erebus in Antarctica killing 257 people. A memorial cross is being erected today. Sir Edmund Hillary now 85 made the journey and took part in the commemorations. |

A poignant tribute in this morning's paper shows candles being lit - for some it was a way of saying goodbye. Flowers were also laid on memorial plaque for the many people who were never identified. |
