I started when I was 13 probably because of a school project I had to do on my family. I am also really interested in history so I wanted to find out how my family lived in the past. After my exams in May I am going to stay at school for another two years and then hopefully go to University. I want to become an archivist or a curator. Lucia :-) |

I can't remember exactly why I started... I think it was as a Christmas present for my grandmother but when I showed her all the work I'd done she just told me how many mistakes I'd made... Not this year!!! I've found family she doesn't even know exist! Am doing a presentation to my family at Christmas. |

I started mine when my great uncle sent us a family tree and I began to take an interest and gradually took over the position of the families resident genealogist, :~) so now if anyone in the family needs to know something I'm the one they ask, lol |

Aw, guys I'm in a dilema .... do I fit into the 'young' catagory or not?? I'm 34 but still only feel 18. My kids are almost 14 and 16, which would make them nearer your age criteria. I was in McD's the other day when hubby ran in and said don't forget to buy me a toy !! He wanted Mr Incredible, from the movie. I ask you how can we be considered old ?? !! I still like listen to wild and varied music like Slayer & Murderdolls, but have to act all demure and responsible when I attend parents night ! I like playing on the Playstation until the early hours, but still have to cook the sunday roast and iron the boys uniforms. Aaargh I'm a teenager trapped in 30 something world LOL :~D So how 'bout it ..... can I join in?? X Sioux |

Hi Bec, so nice to see that there are people alot younger than me that are interested in their family history. I get alot of sarcastic remarks from people i work with etc when i tell them what my hobby is. Claire |

It's a funny thing isn't it..... people either get it or they don't. I've learned to interpret the look people give you now. You know whether to shut up or carry on. I've managed to get the elderly lady I look after interested. She's 83 and the other day she said to me "I know what you mean now, it's very addictive isn't it!" Bless her. I've found both sides of her family back to the early 1800's. She has a phenominal memory and has recalled loads of info when prompted by reading family names on census entries. XX Sioux |

Hi Sioux, Totally agree with everything that you have said. I know instantly when to shut up now. Strange that some people who you dont expect to be interested though, end up being very addicted. Ive just got my step mum into it. Claire |
