my son has just been diagnosed with NARCOLEPSY!!

we visited my eldest son last night and asked the about his recent bloodtest.i was shocked when he told the results! i feel like crying.he was always tired and nodding off,so decided to get it checked out.he now has to see the neurologist. he has 3 small children and another due in january.does anyone else suffer with this?susie

Hi Susie I'm very sorry to hear your news. I also watched that programme and from what I can remember if the condition is mild then they are very sucsessful in treatment. I hope everything turns out well for him Sheila x

Hi Susie - l am so sorry hun to hear about your son. l had not heard of it before either and have looked on the websites, there are alot of sites out there with info and like they say - it is treatable,but that does'nt lesson your worries at the moment. one of my husbands friends had that and could not work on certain projects due to this.i know it's upsetting but once you know what it is it can be controlled.love and hugsxxxx(:

hi susie, in the uk,all thats on offer,is medication,and therapy. in the states,they are making great headway,but are having to fight for research funds...they have isolated a gene,which could well be the cause,so keep your fingers crossed. best wishes to your son.....bryan.
