I think we've an eagle eye Action Man lurking here too. ( son's b. 1973) I remember as a child of the 50s that I had a 'Yes, No' doll, one Christmas. Very tame by today's standards but I thought it was great to be able to 'talk' with her and by pressing a switch on her back or front she would respond with a nod or shake of the head.

I will never forget getting my first two wheeler bike. ( Bicycle.) for Christmas. We called them in Oz two wheelers in the 50s. It was a 28 inch. ( wheel size.) It was a fixed wheeler, as they didn't have gears back then. I was about 8 years old, and could hardly reach the pedals.lol It didnt have any brakes, as my dad got it from a second hand store, and did it up. I remember i used to put my foot on the back tyre, hard up against the back forks to stop it, and wear out my boots to my Mums displeasure. Would eventually wear straight through the sole of the boot to my socks.lol Tony Oz.

I remember not many years after mum and dad had split up I really wanted a guitar. I made the mistake of telling them both and ended up with 2 lol. I also remember getting a viewmaster projector (oh the technology), buckaroo, ker-plunk, a cassette player and one year I got a Bros picture record that I can no longer play as I don't have a record player - oh what a shame. Jack :-)

I got a Tressie doll too one year. I remember getting a Silver Cross dolls pram which was accurate in every detail to a full size babies pram, I got a Tippy Tumbles one year, which I loved but gave it to a friend who came to visit cos she liked it and my Mum and Dad let me do it to teach me a lesson in being too generous!!! My Uncle made me a Doll's House another year with real carpets and wall paper. I remember getting things like bikes aswell like most kids still do. I remember that I used to get boxes of chocolates with beautiful pictures on the front of the box - you don't see them around as often these days, and chocolate teddies. Gaynor :-)

the first press i ever remeber getting was a cot for my dollies. I was a right rough and tumble kid, and i remeber being more excited about being able to help my grandad put the cot together than actually playing with it! xxxx

When I was about 5, I had this Ladybird book that featured this farm and I was quite taken with it. So, Dad spent the cold November and December evenings in the garage, making the farm buildings and the barn, so that when Christmas Day arrived, I had an exact replica of this farm. The 5 year old me thought it was ingenious.
