I don't mind cricket too much and I do actually understand it! lol. But I spend half my summer making flaming cricket teas and listening to the blokes arguing about the games in the pub afterwards. I just wouldn't mind a break from it now and again. Still it's keeping him quiet! Jeanette x

Boring? Pah! If we're talking boring then step forward and take a bow, the so-called "beautiful game" At last we're managing to achieve something in test cricket, so much so that we have an outside chance of wrestling the Ashes from those smirking Aussies, next year. As for this series, if we go 2-0 up then it's a devastating blow for SA, as that's twice now where we've given them a glimpse of possible victory then snatched it away from them. They are not a settled squad, unlike our own these days and are missing the experience of players such as Gary Kirsten who used to provide the backbone for many of their innings.

Now you're talking Andy! Wouldn't mind seeing England beat the Aussies. Is it here or in Oz next year? Jeanette x

It's over here, Jeanette. We then tour Australia in Dec 2006/Jan 2007. Surely, they'll have retired Warne-y by then, lol.

Sadly it looks like the current two are making a bit of a stand, hope we take one soon or it could head for a draw.

Apparently Bumble was saying yesterday that it was Ashley Giles' benefit year and they'd ordered 1,000 mugs printed with 'Ashley Giles, King of Spin'. They came back printed wrong as 'Ashley Giles, King of Spain'! lol Jeanette x

Well you're quite welcome Linda! lol Looks like we won't have it much longer either if they intend to make it pay per view. We pay enough as it is for the monthly rental without having to pay again on top. The only reason we have it is so hubby can watch the cricket Jeanette x

I think England are sometime guilty of bowling too much short-pitched stuff, bouncers etc. It becomes too predictable when a bouncer is supposed to be a surprise delivery. If they bowled fuller deliveries then ok, they may get driven for 4 but that hardly matters in a game where they have runs to play with. They are more likely to get one of them out by trying to entice them into edging it to the slip fielders.

}((((*> Jeanette The Haddock <*)))){ Report 30 Dec 2004 14:25

Hubby says (lol) if they keep bowling the shorter deliveries then slot in the odd full length yorker that becomes the suprise ball. Just wish they'd hurry up and do summat! Jeanette x
