Hello, I was trying to find a relative (Francis Fishwick) who was possibly born between 1855 and 1865. freeBMD.org.uk didn't show any likely results (I know that it is not complete) so thought I would try 1837online. When I do a search for FISHWICK, Francis between those years, it seems to return a page for every volume of every year. Does this mean that there is actually a record for those years or is it a rather fuzzy search that they use? Thanks for any advice. |

Hi Ruth, That kind of limits the use of the search doesn't it? I am still quite new to all this!! Hi Sandra, I don't know where, but suspect Flyde in Blackpool.. Thanks for the responses |

Ah ha. Still, I suppose doing it online is quicker (if more expensive!) than trawling through the indexes at the FRC. Perhaps not quite as much fun though.. Cheers |

In the first 10 years of compulsory registration of BMD, perhaps up to 10% of the population evaded it for various motives. Things gradually improved but, sadly, many of us find that, immediately after 1837, many of our rellies never got listed. Len |
